About The Project
Focusing on communication and connectivity, PROTOTYPE (PHASE 1) probes simulated realities, through the medium of digital performance. Using a virtual reality headset, 360-degree video and physical interaction, we explore identity, through a composite of photos, video recordings, journeys through hidden locations and the written word. This short, one-on-one experience toured throughout 2015, visiting London, Sheffield, Manchester, Preston, Winchester, Hastings and Alt Emporda, Spain.
“I found myself caught comfortably between peeping and peering, between the keyhole and the looking glass. Between the glowing glossy bleeding colourfulness of digital darkness and the lurid luminesce of glowing stage lamps. Under those lights, busy as I was, I had time to consider the noise between pixels, their pitched throw, and the leakiness of bodies.”

About My Process
In one of my earliest experiments combining my theatre practice with digital art, Prototype explored the intersection of intimacy and technology. Despite working with a shoestring budget and during the early days of VR LBEs, I created a technologically stable experience that was cost-effective to tour.
